Hugh Bingham has received the Lewis R. Holding Philanthropic Leadership Award for 2012, according to James W. Narron, chairman of the board of directors of the North Carolina Community Foundation (NCCF). Bingham was honored at the NCCF’s board meeting last week in Raleigh for his instrumental leadership as a member of the board of advisors of the Moore County Community Foundation, an affiliate of NCCF. Carmen Holding Ames presented the award to Bingham at the board meeting. Bingham has been a banker for 20 years, spending the last eight with First Bank, where he is regional manager and senior vice president. He joined the Moore County Community Foundation in 2007 and became president of the board in 2009, when he established the goal to double the affiliate’s community grantmaking fund, which was accomplished a year later. He has been instrumental in bringing new endowments to the affiliate and increasing gifts.

First Bank has named Senior Vice President Hugh Bingham as the Southern Pines branch manager. Bingham has also been appointed to First Bank's local South Moore Advisory Board.Bingham joined First Bank in November 2004. Bingham grew up in Lexington, N.C., graduated from Lexington Senior High School, attended Duke University and earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Guilford College.Bingham is active in the Southern Pines community.He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of the Sandhills, a member of the Airline Task Force that successfully recruited Delta Airlines to begin service to the Moore County Airport and has been recently appointed to the Moore County Airport Commission. He is also past president of the Lexington Rotary Club, and he has also served as vice chairman of the Lexington Planning and Zoning Commission.Bingham and his wife, Jill, live in Whispering Pines.
