Pastor Howard McCrayExecutive Director/Pastor of Fish House
Pastor Howard's road to recovery was spiked with an upbringing clotted with drug usage, jail and prison sentences. He
is a former user of many different types of drugs, from heroin to meth.Despite being raised in a prominent Californian family, Pastor Howard started abusing chemicals at an extremely young age.
What followed was a 25 year lifestyle based upon drugs and crime. He
was involved in different criminal organizations over the years which involved the manufacturing and distribution of major amounts of drugs, extortion, robbery and burglaries.Over the past he
has spent many years in prison and jails. His
view of human life was that a person was nothing, (Romans 1:29-32) unless they had something he
wanted and if he
wanted it he
would take it by any means available. He
was often compared to the devil. It was not until he
found himself dropped off in front of a faith based homeless shelter that his
life took a dramatic turn.
While sitting in a church service with 150 homeless men that where waiting for a hot meal, he
heard a story about a man called Jesus. He
knelt down in front of the preacher and gave his
life to Jesus Christ. It was in the homeless shelter that his
life took a turn for the better. It was there at the cross that he
gave Jesus Christ his
word that he
would devote himself to the teachings and a program of recovery for the next 9 months. Those 9 months have turned into over 12 years.During that time he graduated from the a recovery program taught at the homeless shelter in Oakland, CA, He than enrolled into an Iowa Bible College where he studied theology and inner city ministries.
Since turning his
life over to the care of Jesus Christ he
has devoted his
life to helping other addicts caught in the spiral of addiction.Pastor Howard is currently serving as Executive Director of the overall ministry and pastor of The Fish House - which holds services Friday night in Otsego, Saturday and Sunday nights in Cambridge.
