Mr. Holger Hitgen is a researcher and consultant in South Arabian archaeology.
He is a researcher at the German Archaeological Institute branch of Sana'a (DAI, Yemen).
His main interest is the study of settlement patterns in Yemen, he works every year in numerous projects at Marib, Sirwah and on the Jabal al-'Awd.

took part in excavations as a field director at the cemetery of the Awam temple
(1997-1998), on the Jabal al-'Awd (since 1998) and in the Wadi Gufaina (2003).
scientific interest is focusing on questions of the archaeology of the historic periods, the history of art and on the contacts of South Arabia to the Mediterranean world.
