Herman O. "Tommy" Thomson grew up in Stephens County and graduated from Breckenridge High School.He graduated from Tarleton in 1949 with an A.D. in Business Administration and later received his bachelor's degree from Texas A&M.Thomson
entered the Air Force in 1951 and earned his
pilot's wings in 1952.He
has flown fighter jets all over the world in his
34 years of service, including 100 missions during the Vietnam Conflict.Thomson's advance through the Air Force ranks included assignments in many different countries and commands.He served as vice commander for Pacific Air Forces and later as principal staff advisor the the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.Thomson retired from the Air Force in 1985 with the rank of Lt.
General.After retirement, General Thomson formed the International Infrastructure Development Company
