Dobert, 78, of Main St., died on Sunday May 9, 2004, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a short illness.Born in Taborton, town of Sand Lake, he was the son of the late Water J. and Nellie VanDerwelle Dobert and husband of the late Ann Fryer Dobert.Herb had attended the Averill Park Schools and lived in Averill Park before moving to Poestenkill in 1972.He was an Army veteran of World War II.He retired in the late 1980s from BASF in Rensselaer, where he had been a building mechanic.Herb was a member of the Sullivan Jones VFW Post in Poestenkill and the King Solomon's Lodge F&AM in Troy.He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his children, Shirley (Glenn) Cunningham of Schodack, Herbert W. Dobert Jr. of Poestenkill, Daniel (Marie) Dobert of Clute, TX, Lewis (Jennifer) Dobert of Troy, William (Pauline) Dobert of North Bay, Canada, Dennis (Marlene) Dobert of Averill Park and Sharon Forbes of Wynantskill; a sister, Linda Coiteux of Brunswick, and several grandchildren.Herb was the brother of the late Dorothy Snyder, Richard and Edward Dobert. If desired, donations in memory of Herbert W. Dobert may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ, 741 Taborton Road, Sand Lake, NY 12153.
