Gutknecht of Nutley and a former head of the Nutley High School Science Department, on Feb. 14 at Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge.Mr. Gutknecht taught science at Nutley High for 30 years and earlier instructed science class at Scotch Plains and in Morrisville, PA.He earned a bachelor of science degree from Shippensburg State Teachers College in 1929 and a master's degree in botany from Cornell University in 1934.Mr. Gutknecht was active at St. Paul's Congregational Church where he sang in the choir for 53 years and served as chairman of the board of deacons.He also headed the pastoral search committee at St..Mr. Gutknecht was the father of Dr. David R.
