Benefits Six South County Public Schools Education for the Children Foundation Nears $1 Million Fundraising Mark Helene Dykes, founding principal of Tijeras Creek Elementary and who is today Executive Director of CUSD's K-12 Education Support, remarked, "Education for the Children has contributed so much to the District. It's a wonderful example of parents recognizing a need and taking it upon themselves to do something about it." Dykes noted that even before Tijeras Creek opened, EFC volunteers were preparing to help the organization. She remarked, "EFC provided us nearly $20,000 in grants in our first year, and nearly $70,000 over the last five years."

"Those pods would be designed as storage areas and places to run small group instruction or to hold grade-level meetings, IEP meetings, parent conferences, or counseling groups," said Dykes, principal at Marian Bergeson Elementary School in Laguna Niguel, California.All classrooms would be wired for close-circuit and open-circuit television, she added. "A central enclosed greenhouse for a school garden to be used by all classrooms would be great too," added Helene Dykes.
