Helene Dykes, founding principal of Tijeras Creek Elementary and who is today Executive Director of CUSD's K-12 Education Support, remarked, "Education for the Children has contributed so much to the District. Dykes noted that even before Tijeras Creek opened, EFC volunteers were preparing to help the organization. She remarked, "EFC provided us nearly $20,000 in grants in our first year, and nearly $70,000 over the last five years."
