Joe's Pub proudly presents this concert version of "Suicide, the Musical" on the occasion of Helen Stratford's return from touring the show in Germany and the Netherlands."Suicide, the Musical" was first presented at P.S. 122 to capacity audiences.The show was subsequently presented as part of the 2006 New York International Fringe Festival where Stratford was named Best Actress for her tour de force performance.Helen is a poet, writer, musician, and performance artist whose original cabaret work has been featured at The Apollo, CBGB's, Fez, Knitting Factory, Makor, Lincoln Center, and she is a mainstay of the theatrical cabaret "Weimar New York" which has been presented at Joe's Pub and the Spiegeltent.As a poet she is featured regularly at Bowery Poet's Club, Cornelia Street Cafe, Opaline, and Sidewalk Cafe.As an accordionist who sings French and German, she has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Indian, and Morocco, playing in orphanages, train stations, and market places - and her street and subway performances here in New York merited front page coverage on both El Diario and the New York Sun. Helen's dramatic works have earned standing ovations at P.S. 122, Dixon Place Theater, Theater for the New City, and La Mama, and her performances are regularly broadcast on various cable stations.
