Thanks to Heather MacInnis' husband Gary, who legally changed his last name to MacInnis when they married, the name carries on with the Dec. 17 birth of their daughter, Mary Viola MacInnis, pictured here at 2 days old. -- >Thanks to Heather MacInnis' husband Gary, who legally changed his last name to MacInnis when they married, the name carries on with the Dec. 17 birth of their daughter, Mary Viola MacInnis, pictured here at 2 days old. -- >But then their middle daughter Heather MacInnis got married in August 2002, and Heather's husband Gary Fletcher took the MacInnis name.And just more than a week ago, Heather gave birth to a new little MacInnis -- a healthy 7-pound, 9-ounce baby girl.Seems that about six weeks before their wedding, Heather asked Gary to consider changing his name.After much thought and realizing his brothers could carry on his surname, Gary agreed to legally change his last name to MacInnis."This is only one example of Gary's extraordinary character and generosity," Heather wrote in their wedding program with an explanation of her unusual request for her husband.Heather, 33, an interior designer, also works at MacInnis Construction & Design Corp. on East Conner Street in Old Town.Heather and Gary said they had chosen Thomas Fletcher Mac- Innis for the name, if their baby were a boy, to honor Gary's surname.
