Heather Bouchey is now the Curator at Portland Art Museum and she was lovely enough to give me a look at their giant vault.
gave me some great advice about how to go about our move when construction is finished on our PCC Rock Creek building.
We talked about proper procedures, books that will help in the learning process and the type of cabinetry that would best suit us here at WCM
also gave me a great list of Oregon Museum Association
resources, which will help me to get further opinions and direction from other local curators and museums.
I will be following her
advice by attending the OMA Grande Ronde workshop on Sept. 15th as well, to learn about how to better connect and collaborate with local First Nations and look at their new tribal exhibit and storage space.
It was amazing to see such a huge and diverse artifact collection at PAM
and I admit, I had to contain my child-like wonderment!
However, it was even better to see Heather
again now that I have come full circle, from student volunteer to staff.
Thanks again Heather!
