Hazel Cross Wetzel Hazel Cross Wetzel, 95, of Mannington, died Friday (Feb. 15, 2002) at her residence. She was born Aug. 10, 1906, at Dudley (Flat Run Community), the daughter of the late Thomas E. and Rosa Cross. Mrs. Wetzel was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Mannington, singing alto in the choir until age prevented her from taking part.She graduated from Mannington High School and attended Fairmont Normal School. She was a member of the Mannington Women's Club and taught in the Marion County school system during World War II. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Jean Wetzel of Mannington, and Bill and Jeanette Wetzel of Weirton; four grandchildren, Bob Wetzel of Uniontown, Pa., Sally Wicks of Detroit, Mich., Dr. Sara Saffle of Wheeling, and Sue Gresco of Weirton; four great-granddaughters, Courtney, Kirby and Kaitryn Wetzel and Emily Wicks; one great-grandson, Michael Gresco; and one great step-grandson, Joshua Wicks.
