VANCOUVER, BC - On October 25, the Welsh Society will feature keynote speaker Dr. Hazel Davies of Aberystwyth.Through her topic: Welsh Culture and History -The North American Dream, she will investigate the experiences of the Welsh as seen through the lens of their drama, literature and history.She will speak of a new, confident Wales, and her vision is that of an exciting and vibrant culture. Davies was born in Camarthenshire and educated at the University of Wales and Oxford.At present, she is Senior Lecturer in Theatre Studies at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.She is a member of the Editorial Board of the New Welsh Review, a member of the Executive of the University of Wales Association of Welsh Writing in English and is the United Kingdom Chair of the North American Association for the Study of Welsh Culture and History.She is accompanying her husband Dr. Walford Davies to Vancouver where he will be addressing the Dylan Thomas circle. Everyone is encouraged to attend this event where a warm welcome awaits you at the Cambrian Hall, located 215 East 17th Avenue in Vancouver. Dr. Hazel Davies will speak at 2 PM on October 25.
