Hartsell Rogers, general manager of the Florence Regional Airport, said in 2008 the number of travelers increased 56 percent and in 2009 it went up another 20 percent.

Hartsell Rogers, director of Florence Regional Airport, said he was disappointed in the lack of notification he was given about a proposal that could drastically change the Pee Dee Regional Airport District, the district in which Florence Regional Airport and Lake City Municipal Airport fall.
Rogers said he is not opposed to the creation of a new MOA named E, which would give military airplanes from Shaw access to the ocean where they can go ,supersonic, and use live ammunition.He said his problem is with the proposed changes to the floor and ceilings of the airspace.
,Everybody is going to have to go around us,, he said explaining that commercial aircraft will avoid the area all together if these changes are made, ,flying east by Myrtle Beach or west by Columbia, will adversely affect this region economically.

Hartsell Rogers, executive director of the Florence Regional Airport, said he thought higher gasoline prices could lead to more flying if drivers were uncertain they could find fuel for the trip home.Gasoline prices aren't affecting the airport for now, Rogers said.
"All the planes are on time, and they look like they're pretty full," he said.
Airlines buy their fuel in bulk, and it's not like what drivers buy at convenience stores, Rogers said.
Instead, airplane fuel is a high grade of kerosene delivered more by trucks than pipelines, he said.
