Harold J. Monroe Harold J. Monroe of Gainesville died Sunday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.He was 77. Mr. Monroe was born in Baltimore and moved to Gainesville from Los Angeles in 1999. He received his bachelor's degree in physical education at Ithaca College in New York and later became a certified massage therapist with the California Healing and Art College. He was a corrective therapist with the Department of Veterans Affairs, retiring in 1985 after nearly 30 years of service. He was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church.
