Hilson creates a new high pressure laminated graphic technique and The City of Chicago, in a joint venture with The Madison Square Garden Corporation, commission Hilson to do one-thousand 4X5 foot laminated graphics for the O'Hare International Tower Hotel in Chicago.He receives a commission to do fifty-six banners at the Museum of History and Technology at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC.He does a large abstract Wa'Pa for the US Army at Ft Meyer, VA.His Aero Commander 200-A experiences engine trouble on a flight between Birmingham and Sarasota.Hilson makes an emergency landing at the Tallahassee airport and never fly's again.Other work during this productive period include: "The Structure Series", "The Cerebral Series", "The Meditation Tapestry Series", and "The Circle Series": Oils on canvas and paper, wax-paintings and wool tapestries.Hilson introduces his collector William Mote to USAF four star General James Ferguson, a key individual behind the development of the B-1 Bomber. (After retirement Ferguson served on the board of directors for The Mote Marine Lab.)
