Dr. Hannah Brooks arrived in Newburgh in January 2009 to head the Breast Surgical Services at St Luke's Cornwall Hospital. She obtained her MD at Albany Medical College, did basic research in tumor immunology at New York Hospital and Sloan-Kettering Institute, and completed her residency training in General Surgery at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Medical Center. Dr Brooks also served as Chair of the Breast Cancer Task Force for the American Cancer Society, Eastern Division-Queens. Dr. Brooks is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the New York Metropolitan Breast Group. She is a 1999 recipient of the prestigious Lane Adams Award for compassionate care of cancer patients and their families from the American Cancer Society. Dr Brooks is also a strong advocate of the arts in both Brooklyn and Newburgh communities and has provided both financial and volunteer support for a number of art and cultural organizations.
