...Gwendolyn D. Rogers, appointed to the Illinois Community College Board in July 1992, has been an advocate of education for all ages for 35 years.She
supports expanding adult literacy programs, increasing opportunities for minority students in apprenticeship trade training, adequacy and equity in funding public education, and early intervention for at-risk students. Ms. Rogers is the Director of Education at the Chicago Urban League, where she has worked for the past 15 years.Rogers is a member of the Illinois Literacy Council and The League of Black Women, and she sits on the board of directors for Family Focus, the Expressways Children's Museum of Chicago, the Coalition for Educational Rights under the Constitution, and Women in Charge. Rogers holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology/Early Childhood Education from Northwestern University, an M.A. in Education from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in Elementary Education from Talladega College of Alabama.
