...Because so much of our work impacts the quality of life of millions of people, bottlenecks of any kind are unacceptable," says Gwen Pullen, manager, business enabling systems, Sandia National Laboratories.
The lab's facilities are a natural consumer for advanced technology because of its complex role in managing global security. In the case of its data management infrastructure, complexity proved to be anything but an advantage.Instead, it made reporting exceptionally time-consuming."When we first deployed, at least eight reports per project were being generated, each with a different financial component of the work being performed. That meant an unusually large portion of the consolidation work fell to our financial analysts-and they were doing most of it by hand.We knew that wouldn't be sustainable over time," says Pullen
The extension of our BusinessObjects deployment helped us change that," says Pullen
That means even the smallest details must be handled with the greatest care-even details such as financial management," concluded Pullen
