A lot of kids can't afford the costs of being a scout," said Guy Parker, Chief Creative Officer, BrandExtract and Marketing Chairman for the SHAC dodgeball fundraiser.
"It's about the kids.
With events like this, they have the opportunity to get involved with the programs that teach them about themselves, the outdoors and life."
, an Eagle Scout, retired Scout Master and father of two Eagle Scouts, said
helped promote the event, creating a website and managing the social media efforts.
The firm also entered a team of employees and friends who disappointingly lost before making it to the final round.
The dodgeball fundraiser attracted 42 teams from across the city, and although other councils such as Florida and Illinois have done it nationally, many more expect to host their own tournaments.
While the council was pleased with the turn out and funds raised, Parker
said it hopes to top $100,000 next year.
