Grover Fletcher, chairman of the North County Fire District Advisory Board, said last week that all emergency calls go through the county's 24-hour 911 system.
said the wattage needs to be increased by the North County District and it also needs a taller radio tower.
A new radio tower has been budgeted at a cost of $12,500 to be installed behind the Sebastian City Hall
for the city's Police Department.
thinks it ought to be placed behind the proposed Barber Sreet sub-station fire house because from there the messages could be heard not only in Sebastian and Roseland
, but also in Fellsmere
and Vero Lakes Estates, where the other two fire departments are located within the district.
The North County District, Fletcher
says, also wants to set up a 24-hour dispatching center that can be heard throughout the district.
"When a fire department doesn't receive a call it is just lost time," Fletcher
The radio tower for the Sebastian Police Department
could be shared with the North County's firemen, Fletcher
indicated such an arrangement would be beneficial to all citizens in the North County area.
