MUNCIE -- The last time Gretchen Letterman
visited Ball State University
watched the university dedicate the David Letterman Communication and Media Building, named after her
has had more than 30 years experience in journalism and was asked by the BSU
Department of Journalism to be a guest lecturer for the department's Professional-in-Residence series.
was scheduled to speak to students about "The News about Newspapers" Monday and was expected to appear in classrooms today.
"I'm just thrilled to be on a campus that is so vibrant in its training in communications," she
said, adding that she
was most looking forward to having a dialogue with the students.
"I feel like I'm going to learn a lot from the students here," she
Letterman is the new editorial/creative director for Times Targeted Media.
has only been on the job for about four weeks, she
said, but she's
already helping to develop niche publications for the company.
Besides working with students this week, Letterman
, who lives in Florida, got a chance to visit with her
mother in Indianapolis.
grew up there with her parents, older sister and brother, David.
