Gregory Johnson is an English major at Tougaloo College in Mississippi.Greg has held various leadership positions with organizations on campus, including secretary of Civic Affairs and Election Commissioner of Tougaloo's Student Government Association, the president of the Tougaloo Ambassadors for Meritorious Scholars, and the business manager of the Tougaloo College Pre-Alumni Council.Off-campus, Greg was a youth organizer for the Environmental Education and the Arts Program sponsored by Citizens for Quality Education.He is a United Negro College Fund Mellon Scholar and a William Winters Humanity Scholar.He credits much of his success to his loving parents, Kelvin and Jessie.Greg is a Mississippi native, and loves literature, music, community organizing and outreach ministry.After completion of his studies at Tougaloo, Greg plans to pursue a PhD in English, specializing in new historicist criticism.He also hopes to be a vocal spokesperson on environmental sustainability serving as a liaison between those working to protect the environment and the general public.
