Gregory Davis
Gregory Davis is the former General Manager of WRR, Classical 101.1FM in Dallas, Texas. Two White House administrations have presented Mr. Davis with special recognitions on behalf of his work with classical music and the cultural arts. Gregory has been at the helm of this great cultural resource for seventeen years.
Gregory has been a major influence and contributor to the cultural arts community of Dallas-Fort Worth for many years. He serves as a board and advisory-board volunteer on a variety of arts institutions including: The Van Cliburn Foundation, The Texas Cultural Trust, Dallas Opera, The International Theatrical Arts Society (TITAS), The Metropolitan Opera Broadcasters and the Dallas Opera to name a few. His most recent projects include his volunteer work on the advisory board of the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas which is scheduled to open in October; and serving as a grant review panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in Washington D.C.
He has produced award winning classical music events for broadcast and live festival audiences. He has received nine Marconi awards and recognitions for outstanding classical music broadcasting endeavors by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB). He is known for collaborating with classical music institutions around the globe including broadcasters and orchestras affiliated with the BBC Proms, WFMT-Chicago, WQXR-New York, Minneapolis-St. Paul Public Radio and others. Gregory was one of the early adapters to the internet technology and is widely viewed as a pioneer in web-cast development for classical music broadcasters and arts institutions.
Gregory is a graduate of Texas Tech University and most recently received the 2009 Outstanding Alumni Award for his accomplishments. He also completed professional development courses at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas, and Georgetown University's Graduate School of Business in Washington D.C. He is a native of Denison, Texas.

Gregory Davis was active in the music program during his days at DHS, serving as band president. He was one of the first students to participate in the newly formed educational television network program at McDaniel Junior High School.
Currently he is general manager of WRR, Classical 101.1 fm in Dallas, a post he has held for 16 years. He has been honored with numerous awards including Broadcaster of the Year in 1997 by the Black College Radio Association. He also has been given seven Marconi Awards of Merit for classical music broadcasting and the Texas Public Relations Association Best in Texas Award for Advertising Excellence.

Davis is actively involved in a number of civic and charitable organization in Dallas, where he makes his home. He serves on a number of philanthropic and community boards.
He was born in Denison and graduated from Denison High in 1975. He distinguished himself at DHS as a student earning honors for musicianship, academic performance and leadership, a foreshadowing of his success in his career.
