Daneke is a Professor of Technology and Resource Management at Arizona State University, and is currently a Professor of Philosophy and the Chair in Business Ethics at the University of Calgary.His Ph.D. is in Political Science and Economics from the University of California.He has held previous appointments at the University of Michigan, Stanford University, and the University of British Columbia.He teaches a range of courses in the general area of creative business reasoning and applied ethics.He is the author of over one hundred scholarly publications, and has secured several research grants totally over a million US dollars.He has consulted with numerous multi-national as well as start-up firms.He has also worked with various governmental and non-governmental agencies from the Navajo Nation to the White House and the World Wildlife Fund to the European Commission.His currentresearch explores the logic and design of institutional arrangements which promote socially responsible behaviour on the part of individuals and firms.He looks at these changes in political and economic processes using computer models designed to simulate the co-evolution of agents and their institutions.These models derived from recent advances in the computational sciences allow the representation of heretofore entractable levels of complexity and/or nonlinear dynamics.He is currently exploring what set of arrangements might offer the greatest potential for redressing global climate change and the associated transformation of energy systems.

12 September 2005 U of Calgary Announces First Appointee to Chair in Business Ethics The U of Calgary's Faculty of Humanities, in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy and the Haskayne School of Business, has announced Dr. Gregory A. Daneke is the first appointee to the Chair in Business Ethics.The chair represents a direct response to increasing demands from the public and the investment community for corporations to assume a leadership role in establishing greater social responsibility.Dr. Daneke comes to the U of Calgary from his post as Professor of Technology & Resource Management at Arizona State University and has worked with numerous multi-national and start-up firms and various governmental and non-governmental agencies, including the Navajo Nation, the White House, the Asian Pacific Development Council, the European Commission and the Government of Canada. Nexen Inc., Suncor Energy Foundation, Shell Canada Ltd., TransAlta Corporation, Enbridge Inc., Deloitte & Touche LLP, Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP and the Chartered Accountants' Education Foundation have generously joined the U of Calgary in providing support for the research and teaching opportunities afforded by this chair.
