Dr. Gregg Edwards, a longtime activist of the Mount Pleasant neighborhood in Ward One, was honored at Los Hermanos Restaurant on November 26, 2013. Dr. Edwards was honored by the DC Latino Caucus and the DC Office on Latino Affairs (OLA) for his many years of community service to residents of Washington DC, particularly those that reside in Ward One. DC Mayor Vincent Gray also issued Dr. Edwards a letter commending Dr. Edwards for his many years of service to the community.

Most people know Dr. Gregg Edwards as Commissioner Gregg, who fights daily to advocate for minority groups in the district, particularly low income Latinos in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Ward One.
"Commissioner Gregg has done so much for our community, we at OLA are very happy to participate in this special occasion honoring the work of Commissioner Gregg."
DC Councilmember Tommy Wells also attended event. Councilmember Wells was also featured guest speaker to the DC Latino Caucus PAC monthly speaker series.
Now director of the Academy for Advanced and Strategic Studies, a Washington-based think tank, Dr. Edwards has previously served as a theoretical physicist at the University of Maryland and for thirteen years as a research program manager at the National Science Foundation. An active futurist as a speaker and consultant to hundreds of organizations over the last thirty years, he is (co)author of four books and monographs, including Future Forces, and America in the 1990's. A prominent futurist, he was for ten years the Director of the Professional Activities Division at the World Future Society, and was awarded their rarely given Distinguished Service Award. A former Fulbright Scholar, and visiting professor or lecturer at US and European universities, he was a special guest at the Brookings Institution, and Senior Systems Engineer at Collins Radio. Now as co-founder and Chief of Technology for Newtronics, since 1976 he has started and sustained several entrepreneurial firms commercializing advanced technologies. In public service, he has won one special and four general elections to serve as a public official of the District of Columbia, and has served as the chair or officer of over a dozen boards and commissions. Clients have asked for his reports and consulting in almost every major sector of life and work, from neighborhoods to small nation-states, from industry leaders to startups, in arts, architecture, broadcast, design, electronics, education, entertainment, industrial and military strategy, movies, religion, science, and a wide range of technologies.
