Greg Maguire is Professor of Animation at the Ulster University Belfast School of Art. He is actively involved in promoting a sustainable all-Ireland animation industry through his work with Creative Skillset, Northern Ireland Screen, Invest NI, Irish Film and Television Academy and the Visual Effects Society (USA). In 2010, he formed Northern Ireland's largest animation cluster, Toody Threedy for students, researchers and industry which has enabled students to develop their practice with both local and US-based companies. In partnership with Northern Ireland Screen and Creative Skillset, Professor Maguire has developed a series of flexible learning programmes for industry which run concurrently with university taught content, ensuring content delivered is current and fit for purpose. Greg served as R&D Supervisor, Character Supervisor and Creature Supervisor at two Lucasfilm Divisions. At Lucasfilm Animation since its formation in 2003 as a global digital animation studio and at Industrial Light & Magic on the Academy Award nominated, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Terminator Salvation and Avatar. Prior to his role at Lucasfilm, Greg was Technical Animation Supervisor on Walt Disney Feature Animation's first computer animated feature, Dinosaur. At Disney, he was responsible for creating and maintaining Dinosaur's eighty diverse creatures.

Greg began his career in 1989 at Don Bluth Animation Studios in Dublin, integrating computer graphics and traditionally animated features in Thumbelina, Rock-a-Doodle, and Troll in Central Park. A Peter Gabriel project soon took him to Colossal Pictures in San Francisco where he completed work for MTV, Intel, Sun, Coca-Cola, and James and the Giant Peach. A call from Walt Disney Feature Animation then took him to Los Angeles for four years as Technical Animation Supervisor and Character Animator on their first computer generated feature, Dinosaur. Greg returned to San Francisco in 2000 to take up a position as Creature Supervisor on Visual Effects for Oscar nominated, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban at George Lucas's world leading Industrial Light and Magic. In 2004 he moved to Skywalker Ranch to became Research and Development Supervisor for Lucasfilm Animation on the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated feature film and television series. In 2006 he founded his own animation studio, Zoogloo, whose first project Happy Feet went on to win an Oscar for best animated feature in 2007. Zoogloo's credits also include Thundercats for Digital Domain, Spiderman 3 for Sony, Rockband 2 for Harmonix, Where The Wild Things Are for Warner Bros. and the Emmy Award winning Abby's Flying Fairy School for Sesame Street. In 2010, he took up a post at the University of Ulster, as Professor of Visual Communication in the School of Art & Design and in 2012 he produced the video game Fairy Magic.

An industry veteran of seventeen years, Greg has been instrumental in the launch and development of numerous heavy-hitters of animation: Walt Disney Feature Animation, Industrial Light & Magic, Electronic Arts, Colossal Pictures, Wild Brain, Sullivan Bluth and Lucasfilm Animation: and finally his own company, Zoogloo LLC in August 2006. Greg has more recently served as R&D Supervisor, Character Supervisor and Creature Supervisor at two Lucasfilm Divisions. Where he supervised and animated numerous award winning projects which included work for Peter Gabriel, Coca-Cola, Liquid Television, Walt Disney Television Animation, animated pop icons Hershey's Kisses, Hershey's Twizzlers, Nabisco's Ritz, and Pillsbury's Green Giant. In addition to his extensive animated feature, television and commercial experience he has also worked on several game titles for game giants Electronic Arts and LucasArts Entertainment.
