Veteran reporter and Kingston's luminary arts and food critic Greg Burliuk of the Kingston Whig-Standard was the first member of the media to announce he would take-on a student intern for the Crystal Ball Gala.
In 2011, Limestone students were mentored by some of Kingston's most talented musicians. This student will also attend the Gala with Greg and write about it with Greg for his column. What a wonderful reporting opportunity. Greg Burliuk has been a reporter at the Kingston Whig-Standard since 1973 during which time he has covered sports, and lifestyles but chiefly the arts and food. Last year he celebrated the 20th anniversary of his food column Great Gusto. He has also written two plays which have been produced locally. If you're a student who is in the Limestone District School Board and currently in grades six to 11, you're eligible to be considered. Greg will choose the student who gives him the most eloquent reason why they want to be a reporter for the Whig-Standard this fall, covering the many elements of the Crystal Ball Gala. Just email Greg at greg.burliuk@sunmedia.ca. He will announce the selected student intern on June 22.
