One of the projects with which our President, Graeme Collins has been involved for the last six months is the creation of a memorial to those who have either given or hazarded their lives to protect the freedom of the people of Britain.
The feature will also honour those who are at present serving in the armed forces.
This is a project very close to Graeme's heart, as he
feels that not only should we be grateful for the selfless sacrifice by the many who made Britain great, it should be a reminder that their sacrifices should not have been made in vain by allowing the freedom and prosperity we have hitherto enjoyed to be needlessly eroded.
It has already been agreed that the memorial will be created on a public open site in Bromsgrove, just south of Birmingham and be maintained in perpetuity by Bromsgrove District Council
Graeme, who has social links with the town, was informed during conversation with the Chairman of Bromsgrove District Council that no memorial to the fallen was ever provided in a public place within the town - an astonishing anomaly.
, together with a small committee which includes a retired Army major and a practising barrister is preparing the way to raise support and funding for the project.
The campaign committee will be named THANKSS - in allusion to honouring those who have been killed and who are still serving within our armed forces.
The Competition A great deal of public relations, advertising, fundraising and marketing will be needed over the next two years or so, and the organisation, which is currently undergoing transition to a registered charity, will need an effective logo that can be used in the many forms necessary - and that's where, it's hoped, members of the Association will come up trumps ! Based on the above, Graeme
would like to invite former pupils to enter a design competition for a logo containing the letters THANKSS that will :
