Rev. Russell Allen Nebhut was born in Gainesville, Texas in 1963, the youngest of two children of Grace Nebhut.Pastor Nebhut is a 1981 graduate of South Garland High School.He married Tammy Smelley in October of 1982.They have two children, Jessica and Josiah. Pastor Nebhut was awarded the B.A. degree in Biblical Studies with a double minor in Pastoral Theology and Biblical Languages from Dallas Christian College in 1989.He was named to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for two years.Pastor Nebhut received the Dallas Christian College Homiletics Award and graduated as Salutatorian of his class. In May of 1992, Pastor Nebhut was awarded the degree of Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri.While at Concordia he was elected Student Association Publication Director.He served his vicarage at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Iowa City, Iowa.Field work was done at Zion Lutheran Church, Valley Park, Missouri, during which he also spent one quarter as student chaplain at Lutheran Medical Center, St. Louis.During his final academic year, he assisted with a vacancy at Christ Lutheran Church, Gordenville, Missouri. On April 29, 1992, Pastor Nebhut received his first call to be pastor of Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, Miltona, Minnesota, and St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, West Miltona, Minnesota.He was ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry in June of 1992, and as such was entrusted with the responsibility to administer God's Word and Sacraments to His people. During his years of service in the LC-MS Minnesota North District, Pastor Nebhut served on the District Student Aid Committee, the District's Fall Pastor's Conference Planning Committee in the position of secretary/treasurer, and as the LWML Zone Advisor, and organized an annual Lenten Workshop which was utilized by pastors of six northern districts of the Synod.He also served on the Parkers Prairie High School Dollars for Scholars, Scholarship Committee.He also served in the positions of Chairman and then as the Secretary of the Parkers Prairie Ministerium.Mt. Calvary and St. Paul's congregations saw growth in membership and more importantly, spiritual growth as Pastor Nebhut led them in worship and the study of God's Word.In 1992 Mt. Calvary celebrated its 50th anniversary and recently Mt. Calvary completed a remodeling plan which included a total renovation of the sanctuaries chancel and additional work throughout the church. On October 22, 1995, Christ Ev.Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, Texas, issued a Divine Call to Rev. Nebhut to serve as their pastor.Having accepted the Call of God to serve as pastor of Christ, Hillsboro, Pastor Nebhut was install on December 10, 1995.In addition to the responsibilities of the Parish, Pastor Nebhut served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Missouri Synod Circuit 18 during which time he has organized the annual state wide pre-lenten workshop.Additional areas of service included the Board of Directors of Hillsboro Inter-Faith Ministries Inc., Chaplin for the Hillsboro Police Department, and member of the Hillsboro Parks Board. In April 2001 God directed St. John Lutheran in Hamilton Texas to extend a Divine Call to Pastor Nebhut.After much deliberation, Pastor Nebhut accepted the Call to serve as Pastor of St. John.Pastor Nebhut was intalled as senior pastor on July 8, 2001.May the prayer of all God's people be that He will guide and bless us in the days to come.
