Gordon H. Berg , founded Berg & Co. in 1970.Previously he was a partner in a private investment firm and a commercial banker.From 1968 to 1970 he was a partner of a Boston investment partnership that completed a leveraged buyout and sale of a 100-year-old international coal and oil energy company.Formerly , he was an officer of a Irving Trust Company , One Wall Street , New York , and New England Merchants National Bank of Boston for five years each.His banking responsibilities included loan administration , national commercial lending , and the formation and management of the bank's leveraged leasing subsidiary which leased aircraft to major airlines and railroad cars.Mr. Berg is a graduate of Harvard Divinity School ; Stonier Graduate School of Banking ; New York University Graduate School of Business Administration ; and Ohio Wesleyan University.He is a Mortgage Bankers Association of America Certified Mortgage Banker ; a member of the Advisory Board for the Center for the Study of Values in Public Life , a research and teaching activity of Harvard University ; and the Harvard Divinity School Ministerial Advisory Council ; and a trustee of an independent school and a hospital.He is also a member of the medical ethics committee of the hospital.In 1980 he was nominated to be Assistant Secretary-Domestic Finance of the United States Treasury.
