EdVenture Group K-12 Representative Gloria Patterson said the Edventure Group has 48 centers in 33 counties, and the organization's goal is to have a center in each county in West Virginia.Patterson said the courses will teach adults the basics of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Internet skills.She said both classes filled within 16 hours, and now she has a waiting list of people who are wanting to enroll."I received a lot of calls from laid-off workers who want to take the course," Patterson said."I think it will help them get a job or a better one because they will know the computer." She said they also expect some senior citizens also will take the courses to learn the computers.Patterson said the first computer class was held Tuesday evening, and Casini and Rockefeller Career Center Instructor Nick Cekinovich are serving as the Technology Opportunity Center's directors and instructors.

EdVenture Group K-12 representative Gloria Patterson said the center will be used in the evening to offer in-service and community computer training.She said there will be two classes offered starting in May. These introductory and intermediate computer courses are offered to the public free of charge and include 15-30 hours of hands-on instruction on the Windows environment, the Microsoft Office Suite and the Internet. Patterson said the goal of the EdVenture Group is to have these centers in every county in the state.This center is the 45th in 33 counties."West Virginia needs to learn," Patterson said.
