Mission View and Desert Sands charter schools are economically connected, meaning Hart district board member Gloria Mercado-Fortine could have a conflict of interest, according to an independent report ordered by the Hart district board and obtained by The Signal.
The May report stems from the board's investigation into William S. Hart Union High School District board member Mercado-Fortine for a potential conflict.
Board members Steve Sturgeon and Joe Messina have said that Mercado-Fortine's employment with Desert Sands constitutes a conflict of interest because of the Hart district's charter with Mission View.
