It was into this historic setting that Gloria Anderson
became one of the leaders in the Black Holiness and Pentecostal movement.Gloria Anderson, the 1st Presiding Bishop and General Overseer, Founder, and Pastor of the New Heights Third Day Church, rise has much of the classic American success story about it, but it bears a larger significance.
Born during a time when women in the church had little or no say, and were excluded from any leadership roles. From the onset she
had to overcome two evils, racism, and the prejudices of being a woman. She
is truly an African-American Identity.
decision to pastor this congregation was partly a response to Christian discrimination against women in the ministry.Memphis still proved to be a stronghold. even to the present the apostle experiences this abstinence from her
fellow male counterparts.But Gloria Anderson's
actions also reflected a desire among African-American women to control their religious lives, to have power for example, "to license and or ordain any who demonstrated the call in their lives" without the interference of the religiously controlled church. The now ordained Apostle Gloria Anderson stands hand in hand with God.She
has rejected the notion that women cannot serve with the same solid leadership capacity, intensity, zeal in the ministry gifts as defined by Ephesians chapter four in the Bible. She
has been recognized, and has been ordained as Bishop and Overseer of The New Heights Third Day Church
in Memphis, TN. one of several churches she
has helped to establish.Apostle Anderson has traveled extensively carrying the gospel of the kingdom to the weary, and bruised and down trodden. She
is ready to walk alone to fulfill the calling of her
life.Born with the natural limitations, of being black, a woman, and now a single mother, learned to live free the bondages and expectations of man and thus preserved her
culture and spiritual identity, by stepping out in faith, and trusting God. With a society pervaded by racism, and the church which is her
life governed by favoritism and discrimination made a brave decision, she
now lives free by the power of God, and has truly proven that God is not a respecter of persons.
