In 1982, Glenn Forsee, and his wife, Linda, began making plans to build rental units specifically intended for quality, extended-stay lodging; however, not until this past spring was the plan put into action.
"On April 10th, I put the shovel in the ground," said Glenn Forsee proudly.
And five months later, almost to the day, the final product, Two Shadows Hospitality House, will be finished. He estimates that within the next two weeks, two one-bedroom townhouses, located at 115 and 117 Whiteside Road, will be ready for rental.
The corporate world can be stressful, and the site of this rental property — about 20 miles south of Interstate 24 on Highway 231 — allows an escape to the countryside without being too far removed from the hustle and bustle of Murfreesboro, he explained.
"The advantage to this particular place is the convenience of Murfreesboro, but without the traffic," Forsee said.
Each 840 square-foot unit is fully furnished and features one bedroom, one bathroom, an office, living room and kitchen.A fully covered deck spans just outside the back door of each unit.
Forsee emphasized that everything from bath towels and linens to cable and Internet will be provided — all that is missing are the people.
"You walk in with your clothes and a bag of food, and you're good to go," he said."We wanted to design something more condo-style for the business traveler."
While he hasn't completely set the rental rates, he did mention pricing will be based on a three-tier concept.Visitors are required to stay a minimum of three days and two nights, which would cost between $250 and $300, total. For a week-long stay, he said the cost would be somewhere around $700.And monthly rates would be roughly $1,500.
In addition to corporate professionals, Forsee said he expects to rent to families who may be in town visiting for an extended period, as well as tourists or regular attendees to the local events and celebrations.Because of his own profession as pastor of First Assembly of God, Shelbyville, he anticipates religious affiliates may also be interested in renting one of the townhomes.
"Missionaries visiting from around the world need a place to stay, and people are needing a place in this Middle Tennessee hub," he said.
Of course they could always stay in a hotel, but Forsee thinks his rentals fill a niche of a different kind — one that offers the feeling and comfort of home.
Glenn Forsee hangs a door at one of the two units at Two Shadows Hospitality House, located off Highway 231, just past the Shelbyville Municipal Airport. The townhouse units are tailored for corporate professionals or visitors staying in the area for extended periods of time. > >
