2015 Inductee - Glenn Carano
Glenn Carano currently serves as the general manager of the Silver Legacy Resort Casino in Reno, Nev. Prior to that, he served as director of marketing since the Resort Casino's opening in July 1995. Before joining Silver Legacy, Carano served as director of marketing at the Eldorado Hotel/Casino for eight years. Carano attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on a football scholarship and was later drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. He served as the back-up quarterback to Roger Staubach and Danny White from 1977 to 1983. During his time with the Cowboys, he went to two Super Bowls and five NFC Championship games. He then joined the Pittsburgh Maulers of the now defunct USFL in 1984 and later retired from the National Football League in 1985 where he joined his family's business at the Eldorado Hotel/Casino. Carano has since stayed an active leader within the gaming and tourism Industry. In 1995 he served a four-year term as a board member of the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority and Chairman of the Marketing Committee. He has recently been appointed again as a board member beginning in 2009. Carano has also been a board member with the Airport Authority in Reno for eight years and served six years as Commissioner with the Nevada Athletic Commission. He also stays busy in the community and has served as a board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows and a member of the Partners In Education with Sparks High School and Wooster High School. Carano's main focus and proudest accomplishment are his wife, Lamise, and three daughters, Kasey, Gina and Christi. He also enjoys bike riding, golf and skiing. The Carano File Born: November 18, 1955 Claim to Fame: After a distinguished career at UNLV, Carano was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys and served as back-up quarterback to both Roger Staubach and Danny White.

Glenn Carano, General Manager of Silver Legacy Resort Casino in Reno, has been appointed the newest member of the Bowlers to Veterans' Link Board of Directors. "We are delighted that Glenn will be joining the BVL Board as we work together to help strengthen our mission to brighten the days of America's hospitalized veterans and active duty troops," noted LaSpina. "Glenn will bring his vast marketing expertise to our efforts which will greatly enrich our strategic plans to meet the needs of America's heroes." Prior to his current position, Carano was Director of Marketing at the Silver Legacy. Previously, Carano worked at the Eldorado from 1985 to 1995. Carano has wide ranging Board experience, serving as a member of the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority and Chairman of the Marketing Committee. Carano has also been a Board Member with the Reno Airport Authority for eight years and served six years as Commissioner with the Nevada Athletic Commission. Football fans will remember Carano as a second round draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys who backed-up Roger Staubach and Danny White as quarterback from 1977 to 1983. Carano attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on a football scholarship. Carano was voted into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame for not only his time as a professional athlete, but for his accomplishments in community service and dedication to businesses across Nevada.
