"There was five of us on the original college board when (AVC) separated from the high school district," former board member Glen Settle said."I'm the only survivor from that board," he added."I'm probably the only survivor from a lot of things.I'll be 95 this month."Settle described Barker as "a good administrator.After accepting the position as AV College president and college district superintendent, Barker maintained two homes - his residence in Pasadena and a location in the Antelope Valley, Settle said.Other than that, Settle said Barker was "pretty easygoing, got along with everyone well.Settle credited Barker with starting the nursing program at AVC, "and it's become very successful."

Glen Settle is once again chairman and being a none racing chairman means he can concentrate on the running of the meeting, which is a big help.The situation is still on-going and if you require more infomation on the situtation please contact Glen Settle who will be able to bring you up to date with what is happening.As most of you will know, Glen Settle has now moved up to Club Chairman and will be in charge for the rest of the season, as always it is unsettling to change during the season, but at the club meeting at Driffield, he was able to express to the members about where he would like the club to be heading toward for the rest of the season and received unanimous support from the members present.The racing starts in about 4 weeks time our first meeting being run on March 10th which is classed as a fun day to help get your car ready for the next 4 meetings which are all being run as national qualifiers Our main concern is once again getting people to help out with jobs. if you are having trouble with you car come a marshall for a few races, as you marshall perhaps it will be more apparent how much effort is required to keep and meeting running There are people at the track at weekend's so if you fancy helping out ring Pete Jackson or e-mail Glen Settle and offer you services Pete Jackson was re-elected as club chairman, with Glen Settle elected as vice-chairman.Just received news from Glen Settle at 2.45pm Saturday that he is at the track and it is raining heavy and there is standing water on the track.Glen Settle had a play with his digi-cam while performing his start line duties and hopefully we will have some more pictures to add to the gallery, that's unless we have pictures of the sky and floor or very small cars on a big track which I always managed to take!
