Geshe Jampa Tekchok was born in 1930 and became a monk at the age of eight.
studied the major Buddhist treatises at Sera Jey Monastic University
in Tibet for fourteen years before fleeing his
homeland in 1959 following the Chinese invasion.
Geshe Tekchok continued his studies at Varanasi University in India where he obtained his Acharya (Master) degree and taught for seven years.
then came to Europe, teaching in England for three years, and at Nalanda Monastery
in France for ten years.
In 1993 His
Holiness the Dalai Lama appointed him Abbot of Sera Jey Monastic University
in South India.
has now retired to concentrate on teaching and writing.
has a wonderful ability to communicate the teachings of the Buddha and a lifetime of experience in doing so.
