Gerda Siann spoke on Gender Issues and Young People.Gerda studied at the Universities of Cape Town, Zambia and Edinburgh.While most of her working life has been spent in Scotland, she has taught and carried out research in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Nigeria and Pakistan.She approaches psychology from a cross-cultural perspective.A Fellow of the British Psychological Society, she has published extensively.She is also emeritus professor of the University of Dundee where she held a chair in gender relations from 1996-2000, as well as a visiting professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Glasgow.

Women are not traditionally educated in Rwanda, so Sylvie feels very privileged to be able to come to Stirling to further her studies.
She said: "We have only a very small number of women in Higher Education, around 25 per cent.
