Gerald R. Tarutis is a partner of Tarutis & Brunstrom, PS.
Mr. Tarutis has been actively engaged in the practice of law for more than 30 years. A significant portion of his practice emphasizes the representation of individual health care providers in regard to licensure, hospital relations, transactional analysis, business formation, mergers and sales and helping practitioners respond to recent developments in state and federal health law. Mr. Tarutis routinely appears before various licensing entities such as the Medical Quality Assurance Commission, the Dental Quality Assurance Commission, the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission, the Examining Board of Psychology, the Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission, the Health Care Authority, the Department of Health, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services as well as other multiple state and federal agencies. He also represents parties in state and federal court, both at the trial level and on appeal. He regularly consults with Attorneys in regard to these issues and is a frequent speaker to local and national organizations on topics relating to the regulation and discipline of health care providers. Mr. Tarutis is currently serving as the Vice-Chair, Nursing and Allied Health Professionals Task Force, Health Law Section, American Bar Association, and as the Chairperson of the Professional Licensing Subsection, Health Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association. A portion of Mr. Tarutis' practice also includes representing individuals with mental and physical impairments and their family members in regard to issues involving Medicaid/Medicare, disability entitlements including the Social Security Administration, guardianships, estate planning and trust formation and administration. In addition to representing individuals in matters involving guardianships, trust and estate planning, Mr. Tarutis is routinely appointed by various state and federal courts to act as a guardian ad litem in personal injury settlements, dissolution actions and guardianship matters. His practice also focuses on providing assistance to the families of individuals with a diagnosis of severe physical and/or mental disorders and the related financial issues involving entitlement to benefits including Medicare/Medicaid, complex healthcare benefits and coverage, insurance issues, and alleged financial manipulation by relatives and/or professionals.
