LAKIN - Funeral for George T. "Duke" Stallard, 64, was to be 2 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church
in Roswell, N.M.The Rev. Archie Echols was to be assisted by the Rev. Danny Sons, Roswell Veterans Honor Guard and Roswell Masonic Low Twelve.Emerald Lodge No. 289 of Lakin will conduct a graveside service 10 a.m. Wednesday in Lakin Cemetery. Mr. Stallard
died Thursday, May 16, 2002, at his
home in Roswell, from complications of multiple sclerosis.
Born at Lakin on Oct. 1, 1937, he
was the son of George Aubrey and Gladys Agnes Prather Stallard.He graduated from Lamar (Colo.) Junior College and Adams State College of Alamosa, Colo. A Roswell resident since 1967, previously residing in Colorado and Kansas, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Masonic Lodge No. 18, Oriental Band Patrol and Elks Lodge No. 969, and was a life member of Roswell Sertoma Club, all at Roswell. He also belonged to Emerald Lodge No. 289 of Lakin and was a life member of Ballut Abyad Shriners and of the Paralyzed Veterans of America ZIA Chapter of Albuquerque.He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the building of the Berlin Wall.
