Techcon's George Parker says his role is to ensure minority participation in the project and to manage all the subcontractors.
"And we are required to put supervision in place for safety and quality control."
says, "I make every effort to bring in small, minority businesses and small disadvantaged businesses and suppliers.
A graduate of Norfolk State University with a degree in building construction technology, Parker says the management team is "a very good marriage.
is an international company that has built lots of convention centers; Sussex Development
had worked with Turner
previously, and we knew who we could go to for good subs."
says the convention center "design concept is totally different.
No building in this area is close to what that building will look like."
The most rewarding aspect of working on the project has been the exposure and experience.
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
It's one of those projects that all employees and the city will be proud of for years to come.
It will be a showcase convention center for the East Coast," Parker
