, a regional retail/entertainment center with more than $6 million in public infrastructure financing; a major multi-plex theater project in San Bernardino, California; a thirteen hundred acre planned community, including a community college campus and housing for Naval personnel in the City of Lemoore, California; the development of a Crowne Plaza hotel in Garden Grove, California and a Doubletree Hotel in Santa Ana; the development of two projects in Downtown Long Beach, California, one a thirteen acre mixed use project with seven hundred eighty four units currently under construction and the other a residential development with two five hundred fifty six units in two twenty-two story towers.
Prior to this, Mr. Medak
created and directed Long Beach Financial Services, Inc.
, a mortgage brokerage and development-consulting firm, which has provided services to several governmental agencies, educational institutions and major private development corporations.The consulting practice was directed towards providing assistance in the areas of entitlement processing, financing requirements, government relations assistance, developer selection and the implementation of joint public/private development ventures. Before joining the private sector, Mr. Medak enjoyed a seventeen-year career with the City of Long Beach, California.
Assignments included Director of Budget and Research and Director of Intergovernmental Relations.In addition, as Executive Assistant to the City Manager and Director of General Services, Mr. Medak was responsible for all general services operations such as purchasing, finance, management information systems, property management and the coordination of all inter-departmental activities and special projects. Mr. Medak also served several years as an Associate Professor in the Graduate Center for Public Policy at California State University, Long Beach where he specialized in the areas of organization theory, comparative organization studies, management theory and public finance.He
has been active as a Chairman of the Board of the Long Beach Public Transportation Company
. Mr. Medak holds a Baccalaureate Degree in Criminology from California State University at Long Beach and a Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of Southern California.
