Born in Boston and currently residing in Greenwich, Conn., George
took up the six-string at age 12.George studied Flamenco guitar in Herzliya Pituach, Israel from a teacher who also had a passion for American and British rock. in 1972 with a newly acquired "Sears" guitar, George and his classmates at the American International School in Kfar Shmaryahu, Israel formed an "acid rock" garage band and George played his first concert at a "Battle of the Bands" doing covers of Iron Butterfly, Deep Purple and Grand Funk Railroad.
After moving back to the Boston area when he
was 17, George
played lead guitar in a number of bands (a "Chicago" cover band, a Boston-based contemporary jazz band called Blue Crystal, and a Canton, Mass.-based duo called Duel Guitars) before joining his
sister Eleni during college as lead guitarist in a hot, Providence, R.I.-based Southern Rock band called Windy Mountain.Thereafter, George
sat in and played with Boston-area blues and rock bands, performed as a solo act in regular gigs in the Boston area, and Cape Cod, as well as in night clubs on the island of Santorini, Greece and in Bangkok, Thailand.George
also performed with his good friend Jack Esher at prior ABI functions in Ogunquit, Maine, Newport, R.I. and at the Mt. Washington Resort
in New Hampshire.
Jack and George
performed their wandering minstrel act at a number of venues in Thailand (while conducting mediation training programs in the Kingdom during 2001 and 2003).
In addition to playing lead guitar with the Indubitable Equivalents
occasionally gets to play and record with his sister, singer/songwriter Eleni Kelakos.
