George Crawford, Texas Tech's CHACP1 Operations Manager, presents at the April 2016 Chapter Meeting George Crawford, Texas Tech's CHACP1 Operations Manager, presents at the April 2016 Chapter Meeting According to George, the reliability is the "ability of a system or component to perform its required functions under stated conditions for a specified period of time. Reliability is often measured as probability of failure or frequency of failures. He said that when we perform proper maintenance we will have less "Down Time," which results in increased production, lowered cost and a more reliable product - energy production. Having a maintenance program for all boilers is key for all operators . George provided five steps to setting up an effective program: George says that "There is nothing more frustrating than waiting for an overnight delivery of a $25.00 part while your boiler is out of service. Avoid shutdowns; develop a maintenance program for each boiler. West Texas Boiler Safety Association (WTBSA) Need training for a boiler operator? WTBSA can help, contact George for more information. For additional information on boiler, boiler safety, training or WTBSA events contact: George Crawford: george.crawford@ttu.edu or John Ducatt: john.ducatt@ttu.edu On behalf of the South Plains Chapter we would like to sincerely thank George and his team for welcoming us and providing an excellent training program for us.
