Last weekend, local guide and semi-professional angler Captain George Celi of Kissimmee topped a field of 240 anglers and won the 2005 BASS Federation regional on Lake Okeechobee by 12 pounds.Celi, 38, an engineer for Siemens Westinghouse in Orlando, weighed in two five-fish limits totaling 46.41 pounds flipping Gambler crawdads in the Monkey Box area of the lake.He
won $4,400 and the state championship.
"It's a challenge to balance the requirements of managing two careers.I am fortunate that Siemens
is flexible enough to allow me to prepare for the tournaments," he
said."In order to stay competitive, I have to be efficient with my limited vacation time and rely on execution and adjustment skills on tournament days.Although my catch was good enough to win this tournament, my execution was far from flawless.I still have a lot of work to do."Celi
has done very well competing regionally within many different tournament trails in Florida and has finished in third and 11th places in previous BASS events.
"The Florida BASS Federation
is a solid, well-run organization that is a great forum for weekend anglers to develop their skills and have fun along the way," Celi
