Gene Sakahara has gone full circle with garlic, starting in the garlic fields as a youngster, working in the garlic processing plant while in college, and serving as President of Garlic Festival XIII.
and Sam Bozzo are both residents of Gilroy, California, home of the world famous Gilroy Garlic Festival
, where they made their careers as educators.
Gene Sakahara is retired, but continues to serve as a Consultant and an Administrative Coach with the University of California at Santa Cruz New Teacher Center/New Administrator Program.
He has served as Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources; Director of Curriculum and Instruction; and principal at three Gilroy schools.
He has been honored with Gilroy's Educator of the Year Award and was a national nominee for Distinguished Elementary Principal.
