I had heard about Gayle's and even passed the stores multiple times in Royal Oak and in the airport, but I never stopped in.
I had no idea what I was missing. I am a huge fan of successful women and Gayle's story is no different. Gayle Harte started Gayle's Chocolates in 1979 with one saucepan on a stove in Huntington Woods. Gayle started the business because she couldn't find an intense enough piece of chocolate to satisfy her sweet tooth and decided to make one herself. gayle This is the real Gayle! At this event, Gayle's organized a chocolate and wine tasting led by Elie Boudt from the Elie Wine Company. Gayle's makes all sorts of fun chocolate items like chocolate pizzas, chocolate shoes, chocolate Eiffel Towers and more! Gayle's also has a little coffee cafe where you can get macaroons (my favorite)! IMG_3916 Since we are quickly approaching Easter, Gayle's has a plethora of Easter treats to choose from and is giving you the chance to win your very own giant chocolate Easter bunny! Right away, I noticed the fine details that Gayle includes everywhere.
The decor of the shop, the hand-rolled truffles lining the display case, & the exact sharp shapes that were in the chocolate gifts on the shelves. Truly there is a chocolate gift for every occasion & personal touches for those special people. I LOVE the high heel shoes! Those are my favorite. But I would totally give the tool set to my dad, too! Gayle also specializes in wedding/event & corporate gifts & making CUSTOM boxes of chocolate. No more guessing the inside flavors. In 1979, Gayle Harte started Gayle's Chocolates with a clear and simple goal; make the best tasting chocolates possible and make them with creativity and imagination. Gayle's intent has always been to recreate the magical taste of chocolates that she remembered as a child. Chocolates that were made in small batches daily with natural ingredients at neighborhood chocolate stores. There is a trend today called artisanal chocolates, but Gayle was making artisanal chocolates before it was even a trend. Gayle's Chocolates began as a hobby at home that grew out of a love of cooking and eating. Originally operating out of her house in Huntington Woods, Gayle was soon forced to move her operations to a commercial space. In 1984, Gayle moved her business to 417 S. Washington in downtown Royal Oak that today remains the main center of operations. Along with handmade chocolates, Gayle brought Royal Oak its very first espresso bar - a step ahead of the other coffee shops and cafes in the area. Gayle's philosophy has not changed over the years. All the recipes are the same as they were in 1979. As Gayle has said, "Everything is still made and packaged by hand.

Masterfully combining two of life's greatest treasures, and two of my biggest passions, Gayle Harte of Gayle's Chocolates is obviously some sort of genius for having created these stunning chocolate shoes.
