Gaye Lang, EdD, MA
Texas Education Agency Dr. Gaye Lang has been a professional educator for more than 40 years. Her training began at Dillard University in 1973 where she received her bachelor's degree in elementary education. Dr. Lang continued her education at Pepperdine University in 1975 and received her master's degree in urban school administration. She earned her doctorate in educational leadership and cultural studies conferred by the University of Houston in 1995. Some highlights of her career include being an elementary and secondary teacher, elementary and middle school principal, and director/project manager for school districts in California and Texas. As a White House appointee, she was instrumental in ushering in the No Child Left Behind Act for the U. S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige as the secretary's regional representative and deputy secretary's regional representative that served five states in the south. In addition, she served as a deputy associate commissioner in the School Services Division, the director of School Turnaround, and senior advisor to the Texas Education Agency Commissioner of Education. Dr. Lang currently serves as the director of Restorative Practices for The Texas Education Agency. Additionally, she has been an adjunct professor at University of Houston and Texas Southern University.
