Workload is something that managers should be aware of, and when employees have worked excessively hard on a project, they should be given time off to recover, said Gary Dobbie, senior vice-president of human resources at Royal Bank of Canada.
The bank encourages employees to take their vacation time and brings in experts to conduct stress management seminars as part of its overall human resources approach, Dobbie said.
