A pastoral missionary, Galen Irby was called as pastor, May 8, 1960.
Since the bulk of his
salary was borne by the Home Mission Board, he
time between duties in the local church and the establishment of new missions in the area.
On December 6, 1964, Irby
resigned to assume duties as pastor of Beacon Baptist Mission
which had recently been formed out of the membership of "First Southern".He was soon appointed area missionary for Northeastern Indiana Association.
